Next week, Joan and I will begin a trek toward Twin Falls, Idaho. We will go through central Oregon and visit family, probably stop in Boise to see some friends. Then, on Sabbath, I will be the speaker for my nephew’s memorial service at the church where he pastored. I mentioned a song regarding the resurrection in my sermon a short time ago. Granted, some of the lyrics aren’t quite according to my interpretation of the upcoming events, but certainly the excitement of the resurrection is present in this song. Here are the lyrics from the song by Bruce Carroll and Niles Borop:

Saints aren’t you excited
The hour is drawing nigh
When we’ll all see Jesus
And be caught up in the sky
We see the signs around us
It could be today
We know the Bridegroom’s coming
To take us all away

CHORUS

Gabriel’s gonna blow that trumpet
Loud enough to wake the dead
The horn will cry, no power will stop it
Loud enough to wake the dead
Saints will rise up when they hear it
The sound will free both flesh and spirit
Loud enough to wake the dead

Brothers start rejoicing
Sisters clap your hands
Just off the horizon
waits the promised land
Start the celebrating
No more need for tears
Let’s be looking for him
when he reappears
